Pura Luka Vega receives first complaint for performing ‘Ama Namin remix’ while wearing Jesus Christ costume

Pura Luka Vega received his first legal complaint several weeks after his controversial performance that raised the eyebrows of many devout followers of the Catholic Church.

On July 31, several leaders of Christian Churches filed a case before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office against Luka, whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagente, for allegedly violating the Cybercrime prevention act.

Cybercrime prevention act prohibits indecent actions that also include activities that may offend religious beliefs.

“The drag performance of Pagente is not only terribly blasphemous, offensive, disrespectful, insulting, unacceptable, and outrageous to the Christian religion and belief, it also causes a devalued and negative image of the Lord Jesus Christ, which Christians hold in the highest veneration,” the group said.

Vega only made a short response on Twitter to the charges filed against him.

It can be recalled that on July 10, Pura’s video went viral showing him partying with several members of the LGBTQIA+ community while he was wearing a costume of Jesus Christ.

He could also be seen singing a remixed version of ‘Ama Namin,’ a sacred song being used during Catholic masses.

Many influential people, including Tito Sotto, criticized the actions done by Vega and even challenged him to do the same with other religions.
